Animals starve at besieged farm

RUSAPE - Animals at Koos Smit’s farm have been left to starve as the invaders have cut water supplies and electricity to the farm, reports Zimeye.
“Cattle have been confined for several days with no water or food. The invaders have cut water supplies by physically damaging pipes and reservoirs. The Smit family has endured many sleepless nights. There is no water and toilets drains have been stuffed with bags so they can't flush. The invaders also cut the electricity to the farm,” said an eye-witness.
President Robert Mugabe's close allies, Didymus Mutasa and Ignatius Chombo have repeatedly ordered the seizure of all farms belonging to white farmers.
Sources have alleged that the man code-named "Vasgo", who masterminded the terror attacks against farmers in Rusape last week, is government minister Ignatius Chombo.
"Documents, signed by Mutasa and Chombo, authorizing the forced removal of all white farmers, were shown to a farmer," disclosed the source.
"This paperwork apparently comes from Mutasa, and Chombo was named as this Vasgo character. I suspect that it is because he is encountering resistance from local people on the ground who don't want this Jambanja to happen," said the source.
Another Zanu (PF) official, Temba Mliswa, was also named as the brains behind the attack. On Tuesday, Vasgo led vicious attacks on farmers Kooz Smit, Tizzy Landos and Pete Landos.
Police in Rusape are reportedly doing little to protect the farmers from these attacks.
Farm invasions continue unabated in Zimbabwe regardless of a formation of a coalition government that promised to deal with the issues in a productive manner.
