Liverpool born soccer star Wayne Rooney has refused to deny that he used prostitutes while his wife Coleen was pregnant.

Coleen Rooney appeared to have be unaware that her husband Wayne's had cheated on her when she enjoyed a family day out in Merseyside on Wednesday.

The Rooney's marriage is under strain after the News of the World published allegations that he had a series of encounters with £1200-at-time prostitute while his wife was pregnant last year.

The Liverpool-born Manchester United and England star was roundly criticised during the World Cup for a string of poor performances and there is speculation that his messy private life was a factor in that showing.

Rooney, 24, is reported to have slept with Jennifer Thompson, 21, from Bolton, seven times in four months, including romps at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester.

Coleen is said to have been 'devastated' when Wayne confessed to her on Saturday afternoon that he could not deny the amateur hooker's story.

It appears that Thompson is one of pack of soccer groupies who hang-out at night spots frequented by the rich and famous in the hope of bedding a star.

Only when Wayne asked for sex did demanded money and said that she would "not do it for nothing".

Wayne and Coleen, both from Croxteth, met while they were each attending separate Roman Catholic secondary schools.

The remained sweethearts while he was at De La Salle High School and she was a pupil at St John Bosco High.

They remained together as he rose to fame, first with Everton and later playing for England and joining Man Utd.

They wed two years ago in a £5m ceremony at a castle near the Italina resort of Portofino on the glittering Ligurian coast.

They have since become one of football's most high-profile couples and only last week Coleen launched a series of new TV ads for Littlewoods, with a boot camp theme.

After it emerged in 2005 that as a 16-year-old Wayne had used the services of £45-a-time massage parlour prostitutes in Liverpool he apologised to Coleen saying it was the biggest regret of his life.

The latest reveleations are certain to put the couple under enormous pressure. Coleen now earns on a par with Wayne for her TV and modelling appearnces but her family - the McLoughlins - remain devout Roman Catholics with a strong moral compass.

Writing about Wayne's use of prostitutes, in The Auld Slapper, in her autobiography, Coleen said: 'I was so upset, my head was all over the place. The truth is, and I've never said this before, at that time in our relationship I'd never even slept with Wayne.'

The new disclosures will prompt speculation that the footballers bizarre private life may have affected his form during this summer's World Cup in South Africa. Until late last month, he had not scored a goal for club or country since March.

In the News of the World Jennifer Thompson was reported as saying: "Wayne chased me with sex texts and paid in wads of cash. He didn't seem to care he was betraying Coleen.

"Wayne certainly enjoyed all our meetings and didn't seem to care what he was doing to his wife. I think he believes he is invincible and untouchable. As a woman, I wouldn't want that done to me – especially if I was pregnant."

She says she first met Rooney in June 2009 at the 235 Casino in Manchester. Five months later Coleen gave birth to the couple's son Kai Wayne. '

It is alleged that they arreanged a meeting a week later at the five-star Lowry hotel in Salford with Thompson and another girl in a sex threesome.
